Induction Soldering Steel Cover With High Frequency Heating Units
Objective Soldering a nickel plated steel cover onto a nickel plated steelย EMI filter housing without damaging the RF circuit
Material 2โ x 2โ (50.8mm) nickel plated steel cover, 2โ x 2โ (50.8mm)ย nickel plated steel box and lead-free solder and flux
Temperature 573 ยบF (300 ยบC)
Frequency 229 kHz
Equipment โข DW-UHF-3ย kW induction heating system, equipped with aย remote workhead containing two 1.2ฮผF capacitors for aย total of 2.4ฮผF
โข An induction heating coil designed and developedย specifically for this application.
Process A single turn square helical coil is used to solder the cover toย the filter box. Solder flux is applied to the filter box and twoย solder turns (preforms) are placed covering the perimeter ofย the cover. The assembly is positioned under the coil andย power is applied for 7 seconds to solder the seam.
Results/Benefits Induction heating provides:
โข Hands-free heating that involves no operator skill forย manufacturing
โข Repeatable, non-contact clean heating
โข Fast precise heating
โข Good solder flow without over heating the box andย damaging RF circuits.
โข Even distribution of heating
