Objective Preheat low carbon steel rivets and handrail bars for reformingย for construction
Material Low carbon steel rivets 7/16โ (11.1mm) dia x 1.5โ (38mm) &ย 1.9โ (47mm) long, low carbon bar 1.25โ (32mm) dia x 3โย (75mm) heat zone
Temperature 1922 ยบF (1050 ยบC)
Frequency 48 kHz for the rivetsย 55 kHz for the bars
Equipment ยท DW-HF-25ย kW induction heating system, equipped with aย remote workhead containing two 1.5F capacitors for aย total of 0.75F
ยท An induction heating coil designed and developedย specifically for this application.
Process A Three turn encapsulated helical coil is used for the rivets andย a four turn encapsulated helical coil is used for preheating theย handrail bars. The rivets are heated to the 1922 ยบF (1050 ยบC) in
22-25 seconds and the bars are heated to the 1922 ยบF (1050ย ยบC) in 4 mins 43 seconds.
