Induction Heating titanium and stainless steel for hot heading

Description

Induction Heating titanium and stainless steel for hot heading

Objective

Continuously induction heating titanium and stainless steel wire for a hot heading application

Material: 0.04ā€(1.2mm) OD titanium wire, 0.09ā€ (2.4mm) OD stainless steel wire

Temperature :700 ĀŗF ( 371 ĀŗC)

Frequency: 400 kHz

Equipment ā€¢ DW-UHF-20kW induction heating system, equipped with a remote workhead containing one 0.5ĀµF capacitor.
ā€¢ An induction heating coil designed and developed specifically for this application.

Induction Heating Process

A four turn helical coil with 20ā€ (50.8cm) busswork is used to continuously heat the wire. The wire runs through the coil at a rate of 95 parts per minute, maintaining a constant temperature of 700 ĀŗF ( 371 ĀŗC) prior to hot heading.

Narrative ā€¢ 20ā€ (50.8cm) busswork is required due to the location of the automated process. The customer currently uses DW-UHF equipment and is upgrading their current equipment. They chose HLQ because of their previous experiences with HLQ induction heating equipment and support.

Results/Benefits

Induction heating provides:
ā€¢ Improved production rates with minimal defects
ā€¢ Constant controllable heat
ā€¢ Hands-free heating that involves no operator skill for manufacturing
ā€¢ Even distribution of heating
