Induction Hot Forming Titanium Rod

Description

Induction Hot Forming Titanium Rod With RF Induction Heating Equipment

Objective To heat a titanium rod to 1700Ā°F (926.7Ā°C) within 60 secondsĀ for hot forming.
Material Titanium rods, 1.25ā€(31.8mm) diameter, 5ā€(127mm) length
Temperature 1700Ā°F (926.7Ā°C)
Frequency 70 kHz
Equipment ā€¢DW-HF-60kW induction heating system, equipped with aĀ remote workhead.
ā€¢ An induction heating coil designed and developedĀ specifically for this application.
Process A specially designed thirteen-turn helical induction coil is usedĀ to heat the titanium rod to 1700ĀŗF (926.7Ā°C). Two opticalĀ pyrometers are used to measure the temperature at theĀ surface and center of the part. Both the surface and center ofĀ the titanium rod are heated to 1700ĀŗF (926.7Ā°C) within 60Ā seconds.
Results/Benefits Induction heating provides:
ā€¢ Improved production rates with minimal defects
ā€¢ Improved mechanical properties
ā€¢ Even distribution of heating
