High Frequencyย Induction Hot Plateย with a Tin Coating for Flow-Meltingย
Objective Heat a carbon steel plate coated with tin to 450 ยบF (232 ยบC) forย flow-melting
Material 7.9โ (200mm) x 4.7โ (120mm) steel plates with a tin layer ofย 100 to 1000nm thickness, temperature sensing paint, water forย quenching
Temperature 450 ยบF (232 ยบC)
Frequency 350 kHz
Equipment โข DW-UHF-20kW induction heating system, equipped with aย remote workhead containing two 0.5ฮผF capacitors for aย total of 0.25ฮผF
โข An induction heating coil designed and developedย specifically for this application.
Process A nine turn โDog Boneโ style coil is used for the flow-meltingย process. The tin coated carbon steel plate is placed in the coilย for 1.34 seconds to uniformly reflow the tin coating. The plateย is then quenched in cool water to retain sufficient free tin at theย surface.
Results/Benefits Induction heating provides:
โข Uniform heating
โข Rapid focused heat
